PROCESS
In the mid-1980’s, the City of Mankato and the City of North Mankato were nationally recognized for their long-range planning process ACT 2000. Nearly 25 years later, business and community organizations have advocated for a “new” community visioning and strategic planning process. This time the process will also focus on region building beyond the cities of Mankato and North Mankato.

Community-planning projects facilitated by the National Civic League across the country typically have three stages.
Within the Planning Stage the larger stakeholder group will break into task forces for each Key Performance Areas (KPA’s) Stakeholders will recruit additional areas of expertise to participate. Each task force will meet in between the larger stakeholder meetings and complete a number of tasks. This work will result in an action plan specific to the respective priority area, complete with clearly described action steps, identified implementers, timelines, and benchmarks to measure progress and resources required for implementation.
In undertaking this process, the North Mankato and Mankato region will achieve the following outcomes:
